Greenbacks to Greenback
EXPERIENTIAL / INTEGRATED / FINANCIAL / DIRECT RESPONSE / CAMPAIGN
The government had their money we just got it back for them. At a time of serious economic hardship, we wanted to prove that H&R Block gets people more money back on their tax returns; that, unlike in so many other parts of their lives, with us they didn't have to settle for less. So we journeyed to Greenback, Tennessee, and offered to redo the taxes of everyone there. Ten days, 1,500 man-hours, and a few thousand cups of coffee later, we brought nearly $15,000 back to the people there – money they didn't even know they were owed. After our launch, appointments skyrocketed 350% over last year, online starts jumped 250%, and applications from first-time Block users doubled. Well, there you have it.

We challenged the client to take on an entire city the following year. The client didn’t back down. "We put our knowledge and expertise to the test and the results speak for themselves: Many taxpayers were leaving money on the table, and they were delighted, surprised and sometimes overwhelmed with the good news about how much money H&R Block found them," Turtledove said. "Instead of simply talking about it, we actually showed our expertise. We brought it to life with real client interactions and proved you shouldn't take chances with something as important as your taxes." said Robert Turtledove, chief marketing officer for H&R Block.
